“At Barry Framing, we proudly use Larson-Juhl as our “backroom” framers. With just the two of us ladies running a 50+-year-old framing business, we would not be able to turn around the high volume that we do without it. Having Larson-Juhl chop and join our frames saves us from having to hire a whole other person. While we could hire another employee, we would rather keep it to just our current team which has worked together so seamlessly for almost a decade. Thanks to the awesome ownership and general manager who made our shop what it is today, we have GREATLY benefited from their advocacy of the Join Program, going as far as holding entire workshops to encourage other framers to adopt this strategy. Some framers may feel like they’re not a real framer if they’re outsourcing the chopping and joining. While understandable, we’ve found that the LJ Back Room program allows us to focus more time on the more creative parts of framing and most importantly, more time with the customers. It frees us to create a better customer experience when we’re not rushing them out the door. We do still chop and join some of our frames; some are rush orders from inventory and some moldings require the expert touch of a certified picture framer. So, it’s not that you will never use your saw or joiner again. It’s really what we like to call a “professional shortcut.” We equivocate it to using a CNC machine to cut the mats for us. We still do our own quality control over every mat that’s cut and every frame we order to make sure it’s done right. As long as the customer has a great experience and leaves with a great quality beautiful frame they like, then that’s the ultimate goal. Also, Larson-Juhl has been extremely responsive and accountable for any issues we may come across. It’s really a win-win situation for the framer, the vendor, and the customer.
